Batería epidemiológica informatizada

Conscientes de la necesidad de instrumentos objetivos de uso epidemiológico que permitieran detectar en la población infantil un amplio espectro de trastornos psicológicos y sus factores de riesgo, el primer objetivo que los investigadores que componen la Unidad se propusieron fue la adaptación y validación de algunos de estos instrumentos diagnósticos más ampliamente aceptados por la comunidad científica internacional.

El coste humano y material de la aplicación y corrección de una batería de pruebas de uso epidemiológico se reduce drásticamente si están implementadas en ordenador. Un subproyecto clave fue el desarrollo de un software para ordenadores portátiles que permitiera presentar los ítems de las entrevistas de forma lógica ante determinadas respuestas, elaborar un informe diagnóstico automático y almacenar toda la información en un sistema de base de datos relacionales para ser analizada posteriormente con paquetes estadísticos.
La batería epidemiológica completa que se utilizó en el estudio longitudinal de los 3 a los 14 años de edad quedó configurada de la siguiente manera.
